What is the Castanyada?
The Castanyada is a tradition from Catalonia
that is celebrated on October the 31st. The legend tells that in the
Montseny (a mountain), a castanyera lives , and only during this day
she leaves her house to give people her chestnuts.
To celebrate this tradition, we eat chestnuts and panallets. Panallets are like little ball
shaped cakes and sometimes they contain chocolate.
What is Halloween?
Halloween is
a celebration from the USA and the UK. It is said that during this day, dead
people come back to the earth and talk with their families. It is celebrated the
same day as our Castanyada.
